Who doesn’t love an anti-hero?
Personally, I find them the most interesting. And having been a fan of Catwoman since Michelle Pfeiffer defined the role in 1992’s ‘Batman Returns’, I was excited to check this one out.
Catwoman: Hunted is one of the latest DC animated offerings for 2022, putting the focus squarely on Selina Kyle, renowned jewel thief and on again/off again love interest of Batman. In this solo adventure Catwoman is after the Cat’s Eye Emerald, not knowing however that the jewel is under lock and key by the dangerous crime organisation Leviathan. Finding an unlikely ally in Batwoman and featuring a brilliant cast of major and supporting villains, the action starts from the get-go and doesn’t let up through the 80-minute runtime.
The movie has a beautiful Japanese anime cartoon style which meshes well with the character designs, giving us an amazing animation hybrid.
The soundtrack swings delightfully from old school to new school jazz offerings, highlighting the frenetic action from sequence to sequence.
If, like me, you find an escape from reality in the trials and tribulations of made-up superheroes, you’ll enjoy this one a lot.
