David (Kanopy)
A truly heartwarming and emotionally timely movie, David tells the story of Daud, the son of a local Imam in New York City. One day, he notices a group of boys in the park who have accidentally left their holy book, the Torah, behind. Daud runs to return it to them but instead accidentally ends up attending Judaism studies at the local synagogue.
To conceal his identity, Daud adopts the name David and befriends Yoav. The two establish a beautiful and genuine friendship. Daud becomes intrigued by what he learns at the synagogue and continues attending, in secret. Meanwhile, there are other subplots in the movie, such as Daud’s sister wanting to attend university.
This 2011 film highlights the beautiful truth that all children are born without prejudice and hatred. They are the only truly innocent and empathetic people on this planet.
I loved this movie and highly recommend it.
