The Fowl Twins by Eion Colfer

Criminal genius runs in the family... Myles and Beckett Fowl are twins but the two boys are wildly different. Beckett is blonde, messy and sulks whenever he has to wear clothes. Myles is impeccably neat, has an IQ of 170, and 3D prints a fresh suit every day – just like his older brother, Artemis Fowl. A week after their eleventh birthday the twins are left in the care of house security system, NANNI, for a single night. In that time, they befriend a troll on the run from a nefarious nobleman and an interrogating nun, both of whom need the magical creature for their own gain.

Way back in 2001 we were introduced to genius criminal 12 year old Artemis Fowl and his many underground fairy adventures. Well Eion Colfer's world is back for a new generation of children with The Fowl twins, younger brothers to the reformed criminal mastermind (Whose off to the moon so don't get any hopes up about seeing him!). The boys accidentally get swept up in an adventure with tiny trolls, magicless fairy cops and an evil Lord with a hankering for immortality via troll juice. Sounds delicious right?

Like the original run The Fowl Twins is a lot of fun and an easy read for kids with short chapters and accessible vocabulary. There's lots of action, adventure and secrets to be revealed plus some well-meaning social messages along the way. It also looks like the start of a brand new series so there's a lot more Fowl justice coming our way. Luckily it really isn't necessary to read the originals before jumping into this one - though I would recommend them just because they are a lot of fun- the story will tell you the information you need to know as you go along.

This is a fun book for kids and available as a book and an eBook! Can't get more convenient than that.
