I am Hungry by Michael Rosen

I Am Hungry is a fun, rollicking read about a squirrel on the search for something to eat. We all know what it’s like to be so insatiably hungry that it is impossible to find something satisfying to eat. The author tells us at the start of the book that “When I feel hungry I daydream about all the things I could eat”.

Playfully, this picture book explores the sensible and silly things that Squirrel could eat. The words and page turns have a great pace and rhythm, and the pictures complement the story with humorous visions of Squirrel trying to eat rather weird things.

I see this book as an engaging and fun opportunity to spend some time being silly with your child, and to daydream and discuss all of the nonsensical things you could eat if you were really, really, really hungry.
