Inheritance by Genevieve Gannon
Inheritance is a new book by Genevieve Gannon, and it is fantastic.
The novel explores a post-COVID world where viral outbreaks have sparked a push to create the "perfect human" — one that doesn’t get sick.
In 2027, Emily, a woman struggling with fertility, must decide whether to pursue a new IVF treatment that involves genetic editing. In a scary world where the Coronavirus Epsilon variant has caused much heartache, the idea of creating a child who won’t catch the virus is very tempting. However, there are other genetic edits she can choose, and the question arises: where should she stop?
Running parallel to this story, decades later, is Adelaide’s narrative. She too is struggling with fertility and is on a mission to find a way to have a child in this much-changed world.
I really enjoyed this dystopian novel. It’s full of drama, love and adventure — it has a bit of everything. This book is available as a hard copy, eBook or eAudiobook on BorrowBox with a library membership. I highly recommend it — a great summer read.
