The Mark of Athena

The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

The Mark of Athena is the third instalment in Rick Riordan's series, The Heroes of Olympus. I am only a few chapters in and cannot put the book down as expected from the author of Percy Jackson. Another book packed to the brim with mythology, trauma and ADHD so impressive you'll be driving a ship with Wii remotes.

My favourite thing about this book is how it relies strongly on character relationships; Annabeth's relationship with Percy and her mother, Athena, even the relationships between The Seven drive the overall plot. The romantic subplot between Percy's half-brother Tyson and the prophetic harpy Ella, and even the relationship between the Greeks and Romans, (a rivalry so strong the gods had to keep them apart via mist to stop future problems) are so important that they drive the narrative from the beginning.

I would recommend this book to anyone who's read Riordan's previous instalments, is a fan of Greek and Roman mythology, or has ADHD.
