The picture book Who will I be? By Abby Huntsman, illustrated by Joanne Lew-Vriethoff is about Isabel’s thoughts about who she will be when she grows up, after her teacher proposed the question' who do you want to be when you grow up'? Everyone in class had some sort of idea and answered who they want to be but Isabel didn’t have any idea. This started bothering her, and she started thinking about it the whole day.
With this question in mind Isabel explores variety of jobs and career fields while being out and about with her Dad, doing her normal activities, but this time the difference is that she is more aware of her surroundings and thinking about all the jobs people do that could help others. The vivid digital illustrations portray an illusion of watercolour features, it is detailed and colourful. The pictures and the words take the reader into Isabel’s world, together we explore the variety of career fields Isabel can choose when she grows up.
