How do I feel?

How do I feel? by Rebekah Lipp

This book is an alphabetical dictionary of emotions, suitable for all age groups, including children and teenagers. The book aims to describe 60 plus emotions, including the definition of the variety of emotions we feel as a human being. Each emotion is described in detail, including how it might feel in the body, how it might look and what its purpose is.

The book also provides synonyms and related words, helping to build emotional vocabulary and deepen understanding. Understanding human emotions is helpful for the wellbeing of children, and a tool to navigate the world around them.

It is especially crucial when growing up, when it can be very confusing to name and understand our emotions. Self-awareness around emotions we feel and naming them helps children understand and better manage themselves, to effectively communicate and socialise with others.

Naming emotions and having a deeper understanding of them clarifies why we feel, behave and react in a certain way, allowing children to reflect, listen to their feelings and thoughts. A powerful skill to practice self-control and behave accordingly.

The book features colourful illustrations and is a fun, engaging read for all ages. As an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed it too. I highly recommend this book to parents. It is a wonderful resource for your children and will help them recognise and name different emotions, understand their unique qualities and increase emotional self-awareness for better emotional management.
