Warm Winter Read - Cosy Up With a Book This Winter

Grab your book, blanket and beanie, we’re hibernating with books this Winter with the Warm Winter Read

From 1 June to 31 July you are encouraged to find time every day to cosy up with a book. Create healthy reading habits by tracking your reading progress online with Beanstack or by collecting a paper reading record from the library. Find some new titles to read, join in fun challenges and share your reading with others.

How to participate

Registration is now open. Follow the link below to the Public Libraries Victoria Beanstack webpage to register.

Log each day you spend time reading, between Wednesday 1 June to Sunday 31 July, on the Beanstack Tracker app  via the App Store or Google Play, via the Beanstack website or on the Warm Winter Read reading record. Visit us at the library for more information.

Let us inspire you

Collect bookmarks with recommended reads from Victorian authors including Jane Harper, Jock Serong, Maxine Beneba Clarke, Toni Jordan, Rebecca Lim, Claire G. Coleman, Helen Garner and Christos Tsiolkas from the library.

Check out the Open Book Podcast the Read and Relax Blog and the Your Next Read page for more reading suggestions.

Join the conversation online by sharing your progress through the eight activities using #WarmWinterRead

Week 1: Choose something to read — try a Victorian writer (ask us for a recommendation).
Week 2: Swap some screen time for reading time.
Week 3: Read outside your home.
Week 4: Read aloud to a pet, person or plant.
Week 5: Snuggle up with your read.
Week 6: Read while doing something else; commuting, waiting, doing chores (ebooks/audiobooks are great for this).
Week 7: Talk about what you’re reading in person or online.
Week 8: Choose something else to read. Choose what to read next.

Start a book from your TBR (To Be Read) pile, finish that book you put down months ago, or find something new while browsing the library shelves - the Warm Winter Read is waiting for you.
