New Beginning

New Beginning by Annie Seaton

Annie Seaton has done a magnificent job writing this book. She really knows how to handle romance and family dynamics. The book is only 170 pages and still manages to tell a dramatic story with interesting characters.

Amelia Johnson, a young woman from the countryside, lives with her family, her brothers, sisters and parents, at Duckinwilla Creek. They have a family farm, and she helps them keep it running. Her family, including her grandmother, is very conservative, and she grew up hearing that you should never trust a stranger, especially a man.

Amelia wants to live her own life, have her own space and independence. She takes a part-time traineeship at her local preschool and finds a cosy, affordable cottage. Ms Henderson owns the cottage, which her late husband used to run along with a vineyard.

Everything feels like a dream for Amelia. She has a job, a new place to live, and it seems like her life is finally coming together, like pieces of a puzzle, including one very big piece.

Daniel Dupont, a handsome French man, has recently arrived in Australia for ‘research’. When Amelia opens the door, she is mesmerised by his charming smile and brown eyes that seem to turn golden when he smiles. Both of them have the proper lease documents, but Daniel had arranged everything before Amelia even arrived. He also has a family connection with a vineyard, adding to the mystery. Since he was first, he lets her stay until they sort it out with Ms Henderson.

Was it all just a coincidence?

Or did Ms Henderson plan it?

Or is a family member testing Amelia to see if she can trust a stranger?

Or is Daniel here to turn the vineyard into a business?
