The Colours of Home

The Colours of Home by Sally Soweol Han

The Colours of Home by Sally Soweol Han follows Bomi, a young child who moves to a new country. At first, everything, except for the silver moon, seems different. As Bomi settles into her new surroundings, she begins to notice the colours of home and the similarities between her old and new worlds.

Han, a Korean Australian author and illustrator, draws on her own migration experience to tell this story with warmth and gentleness, bringing it to life through her beautiful illustrations. This story resonates with me as a migrant who is also connected to two homes that form part of my identity. It is a wonderful picture book for young families, especially those from migrant backgrounds and would also be perfect for use in classrooms.
