A Disappearing Act by Jo Dixon
A Disappearing Act by Jo Dixon is a great thriller that uses the deep friendships and secrets held by a group of friends as its central premise. Marnie Eliott, a famous and successful writer, invites her three girlfriends to a remote location in Tasmania for a girls' weekend away, a chance to catch up on all the gossip, drink some bubbles and reconnect. However, by the end of the weekend, one of them is missing in suspicious circumstances and old secrets have returned to haunt the group.
I love crime and thriller genres and have great admiration for anyone who can plot a well-paced thriller - it's a fine art. Dixon succeeds with this tightly written page turner - I read it quickly because I wanted to find out the outcome.
A Disappearing Act is a great addition to your Warm Winter Reads list as it manages as so few books do to transport you away from the cold, grey winter both literally and figuratively takes the reader to Thailand to solve the mystery.
