Masters of Death by Olivie Blake

Masters of Death is another book that grabbed me because of the title. I was super curious to see what it was about.

I did not expect a story about Death, his godson, a vampire real estate agent, a demonic personal trainer, a poltergeist, an annoyed angel, a kind reaper, godlings, archangels and a variety of other creatures.

Violet, the vampire real estate agent, enlists Fox, the godson of Death, to help her get rid of the poltergeist haunting the mansion she is trying to sell. Fox begrudgingly agrees, and as with all things, a simple task becomes a “save humanity” mammoth enterprise. They must all work together and unravel the secrets of the past, as well as win an unwinnable eternal gambling game against Death, run by archangels Michael and Gabriel.

I really enjoyed this story as I really liked the quirky premise. I also really enjoyed the narrator Steven West, but kept getting a bit lost along the way as the story jumps timelines somewhat. I’m not sure if this is just the case because it is narrated or if it would be similar in a book.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of fantasy in their life.
