The Science of Plant Based Nutrition

The Science of Plant Based Nutrition by Rhiannon Lambert

After having a mostly vegetarian diet for the last couple of years, I was looking for a book to educate me on missing nutrition and tips for keeping a healthy diet in the ever-changing landscape of food and knowing what is actually “healthy.” This book is a great resource for those wanting to find out more information about plant-based eating and all the various forms it takes, from vegan to pescatarian to lacto-vegetarian and everything in between. It’s very well-structured, with chapters broken down into simple categories with sections on every question you can think of.

I discovered lots of information I didn’t know. It’s a fact-based nutritionist's analysis of what’s required for a healthy diet and how to get what you need. The author, Rhiannon Lambert, is an English nutritionist whose approach is to predominantly eat a plant-based diet. She addresses a lot of the misconceptions of plant-based eating and provides lots of options for your own diet.

The pages are presented with simple-to-understand informative graphics and tips to note for when cooking and creating meals for your day-to-day life. It helped me to understand what might be missing and how I could address that. It also does not discriminate, as meat and eggs are discussed as options, so it gives all the diverse kinds of dietary information. Overall, it’s a very flexible approach to suit everyone’s lifestyle.

I would recommend this to anyone looking at their diet overall and how to ensure you get a well-balanced diet and all the nutrients you need.
