Star of Deltora

Star of Deltora by Emily Rodda

This is a newer series from Emily Rodda and having remembered enjoying the Deltora series when I was younger, I wanted to see if this one could capture my imagination again and it did.

Another addition to the world of Deltora, this series follows the adventures of the quick‑witted and earnest Britta.

In Shadows of the Master, Britta manages to leave her overbearing responsibilities and ill reputation in Del by escaping to the sea. However, she is aboard the Star of Deltora, a trading boat that once belonged to her father, who was outcast from the city for his crimes, and she must keep this secret.

In Two Moons and The Towers of Illica, Britta visits various islands across the Silver Sea, meets many new people, and begins to understand different cultures. From a mutinous crew and wailing ghosts to shining treasure and new friends, Britta manages to get through her trials by being honest and curious.

I found this whole story fun and engaging the entire way through, and I could not wait to finish the last book, The Hungry Isle.

It’s worth picking up, especially as a good summer holiday read for younger teens and children.
