We’re making Dandenong Library more welcoming.
Dandenong Library is being improved with new and expanded spaces for our community to enjoy. These include:
- A new parents’ room with infant care facilities.
- A multi-faith room for prayer and reflection.
- Additional quiet study spaces for focused learning and reading.
- The works are expected to be completed by the end of December 2026.
Keeping the Library Open
Dandenong Library is expected to remain open during construction, but short one-day closures may be needed. Some areas and services may also be temporarily affected. We will provide advance notice wherever possible.

We’re responding to the needs of our diverse and growing community and creating a new parents and carers space, a new multi-faith room, and additional quite study spaces, to make Dandenong Library more accessible and welcoming.

Will there be construction noise?
There will be periods of construction noise. We will provide updates about significant noisy works wherever possible, and help visitors find a more suitable space at these times.
Will toilets remain available?
There will be impacts to some bathrooms on level two during construction, and there will be nearby alternatives at all times. Please follow the signs or check with a member of the library team for information on temporary closures and available alternatives.
Will the children’s area be affected?
Some parts of the children’s area will be temporary closed during the works, but we will be making some adjustments to the location of books and furniture to minimise any impact on our young readers.
Who is funding the project?
The project is funded by the City of Greater Dandenong and the Victorian Government through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program. The Victorian Government grant is $318,550.
How much does the project cost?
The total project cost is $637,100.
Who is carrying out the works?
Circon Constructions Pty Ltd has been appointed as the construction contractor.
